on the outskirts of time

there we were,
in this quaint, forgotten village
outside of time,
bare bodies
in the gentle wind,
feet firmly placed
on the earth,
toes mingling
with the mud,
our backs turned
to the sunset.

you poured water
over my body,
washing the day away,
the dirt,
the pain,
and as the lukewarm water
touched my body,
my skin hardened,
my nipples awakened,
and I felt
the kiss of life.
